Top treat in store for city theatre-goers

TALENTED members of the Swan Theatre Amateur Company will be taking to the stage for their version of black comedy The Ladykillers.

A classic example of making light of a taboo subject, The Ladykillers tells the tale of a sweet little old lady alone in her house but pitted against a gang of criminal misfits who will stop at nothing.

Adapted for the stage by Graham Linehan, creator of Father Ted, The IT Crowd and Black Books, this classic Ealing Comedy will be performed at the Swan Theatre from October 11 to 14.

Posing as amateur musicians, Professor Marcus and his gang rent rooms in the lopsided house of Mrs Wilberforce.

The villains plot to involve her, unwittingly, in Marcus’s brilliantly conceived heist job.

The police remain stumped but Mrs Wilberforce becomes wise to their plan and Marcus concludes there is only one way to keep the old lady quiet.

With only her parrot, General Gordon, to help her, Mrs Wilberforce is alone with five desperate men. Who will be forced to face the music?

Tickets are £12 and £11 for concessions and available through the Worcester Live Box Office on 01905 611427.

Comedy-lovers can also pick up tickets from the Swan Theatre from 45 minutes before the start of each performance for that night’s performance.
