A UNIVERSITY of Worcester student will combine his studies with playing elite-level basketball after signing a professional contract with Worcester Wolves.

Zachariah Noble, a 20-year-old shooting guard, joins the club with a wealth of experience having played in France for BCM Gravelines-Dunkerque’s under 21 and under 18 team, as well as in Spain where he enjoyed a four-month spell at the TBS Academy in Madrid.

The Greenwich-born student will be studying for an HND in sport, coaching and physical education alongside training and matches with Wolves.

“I’m excited to be given such a great opportunity at Worcester and I’m ready to step up to the challenge and contribute to the team,” said the 6ft 5in player.

“I realise that being a student athlete comes with its own challenges, but I’m prepared to work hard to achieve my dreams.

“Being able to play for the Worcester Wolves at such a young age is an incredible opportunity, which I’m proud and extremely grateful to be a part of.”

Director of basketball Dale Ryan said: “We feel that, with his talent and understanding of the game, Zac will make a valuable contribution to the success of both the Wolves and the University BUCS team, with the ultimate aim of winning championships in both competitions.”

Noble joins last week’s new signings Elvisi Dusha and Dallin Bachynski, alongside George Beamon, Trayvon Palmer, Ashton Khan, Alex Navajas and Brandon Parrish as new recruits in Wolves’ roster ahead of the British Basketball All-Stars Championship at The O2 Arena in London, on Sunday, September 24.

Wolves kick off their BBL campaign against London Lions at the University of Worcester Arena on Friday, September 29 (7.30pm).
