JAZZ lovers will be flocking to Worcester next week when a critically acclaimed jazz band put on an epic show to celebrate the genre’s 100th birthday.

British jazz legend Chris Barber and The Big Chris Barber Band will perform a special ‘Centenary of Jazz’ concert at Huntingdon Hall on Saturday, September 16, to celebrate 100 years since the release of the very first jazz record, Livery Stable Blues, in 1917 by ‘Original Dixieland Jass Band’.

The Big Chris Barber Band stands out as one of the finest, if not the finest, of its kind anywhere in the world.

The renowned ten-piece band play everything from New Orleans to blues, to late 20s Ellington, with extraordinary panache and skill.

Audiences will be treated to jazz and blues classics from throughout the last centenary, including Chris’ favorites such as Bourbon Street Parade, Jubilee Stomp, Petite Fleur, Ice Cream, When the Saints Go Marching In and many more.

Being sponsored by King’s School, Worcester, this evening will showcase the very best of jazz and leave all music lovers in a state of awe on what promises to be a memorable night.

The event starts at 7.30pm and tickets cost £22.50.
