Dates confirmed for Warriors' European Challenge Cup campaign

Worcester Editorial 22nd Aug, 2017 Updated: 22nd Aug, 2017   0

WARRIORS’ European Challenge Cup fixtures against French sides Brive and Oyonnax and Irish outfit Connacht have been confirmed ahead of the 2017/18 campaign.

Director of rugby Gary Gold will see his side kick-off the new tournament at home to Brive on Saturday, October 14 (kick-off 3pm).

Worcester will be looking for revenge against the French side after suffering two defeats to them in last season’s pool stages and could come up against former Warriors James Johnston and Na’ama Leleimalefaga, who both joined Brive this summer.

After their Pool 5 opener, Warriors then travel to Ireland on Saturday, October 21 to face Connacht (kick-off 3pm).

The Irish side will provide Warriors with stiff competition after dropping down into the Challenge Cup.

In December, Worcester face back-to-back clashes with Oyonnax, a side that are back in the competition after winning France’s second tier Pro D2 title last season.

They will welcome the French outfit to Sixways on Saturday, December 9 (kick-off 3pm), before heading to France for the return fixture just six days later on Friday, December 15 (kick-off 8pm).

Warriors wrap up the pool stages with a home clash against Connacht on either January 11, 12, 13 or 14, before travelling to Brive on either January 18, 19, 20 or 21.

The European Challenge Cup final is being held in Bilbao, Spain, in May.
