HEAD coach Carl Hogg has hailed Warriors’ new signing Chris Vui as a powerful and versatile forward who will add strength to his pack.

The Samoan lock has joined the the club until the end of the season and could feature in Warriors’ European Challenge Cup clash with Newport Gwent Dragons this Saturday at Sixways.

“Chris is a big, powerful and adaptable forward. At just 23-years-old, he’s an experienced leader having led North Harbour to the top-flight in New Zealand,” said the former Melrose, Edinburgh and Scotland back row.

“We’re excited to see what he has to offer as he will certainly add some strength to our pack,” he added.

The versatile forward, who can play in the second row or back row, has had a whirlwind few months, having skippered New Zealand outfit North Harbour to the Mitre 10 Championship title in October, before earning his first cap for Samoa against France last month.

Vui also enjoyed a stint at Auckland Blues in the 2015 Super Rugby campaign and represented New Zealand Under 20s in the 2013 World Rugby Championship.

“Worcester have a great vision in place and the facilities and resources available at the club are outstanding,” said the Pacific Islander.

“I’m excited about the prospect of playing Premiership rugby and hopefully I can boost the squad and help push us up the table,” he added.
