Big-spenders to provide a stern test for resurgent City

WORCESTER City welcome big-spending AFC Fylde to the Victoria Ground looking to improve on their recent record against top ten sides in National League North.

Despite winning three in a row at home, City have only picked up four points against nine of the top 11 teams this season.

The Blue and Whites will be looking to build on their recent run of form on Saturday against their table-topping visitors, who have invested heavily in their pursuit of National League football.

As well as moving into a new 6,000 all-seater stadium, the big spending leaders also splashed the cash on a host of new signings including Dan Bradley from Alfreton Town for a reported five-figure fee.

Fylde arrive at the Victoria Ground four points clear at the top of the table having lost just one of their 19 league games, scoring 56 goals in the process.

Manager Carl Heeley will be hoping his side take encouragement from last season’s unbeaten encounters with their visitors, which saw City secure a 3-2 win on the road and a 2-2 draw at home.

“I don’t expect wins, we have to go and earn them, but we are well organised with pace and I think we can pose problems for anyone,” he said.

City were handed a reunion with former front-man Daniel Nti when they secured a place in the FA Trophy first round with victory at Curzon Ashton on Monday.

Following their 2-1 win, the Blue and Whites will travel to Bootham Crescent on Saturday, December 10 to meet National League strugglers York City.

The Boxing Day clash with Kidderminster Harriers has been declared an all-ticket affair, with both sides anticipating a high demand for tickets.

Non-season ticket holders will be able to buy tickets for the derby clash before the home game with AFC Fylde between 1.30pm and 2.45pm inside the ground.

Tickets for the game are £13 for adults, £9 for concessions, £6 for young adults and £3 for juniors.
