James: Walker can be our spark

Worcester Editorial 23rd Nov, 2016   0

HEAD coach Paul James insists new signing Maurice Walker will provide the impact needed to turn Wolves’ indifferent season around.

The 6ft 10in forward/centre has joined the club from Latvian outfit Valmiera, where he averaged 6.8 points and five rebounds per game.

The Canadian-British player has also played in Cyprus for Keravonas and in Italy for VL Pesaro.

The 24-year-old attended the University of Minnesota where in his final year in 2014/15, he averaged 11.8 points, 6.7 rebounds, 1.5 steals and 1.3 blocks per game.

Walker said: “I’m excited as it’s going to be a good opportunity for me. I’m here to help the team in any way I can.”

James said: “The club has been working long and hard in search of a centre player such as Walker. We’ve had an indifferent start to the season, so with the addition of Maurice we’re looking to turn things around quickly.

“He will give us that inside presence at both ends of the floor we’ve been lacking so far this season. I’m sure he’s going to have a great impact on the team.”
