HUNTINGDON Hall will welcome broadcaster, actor and former MP Gyles Brandreth, for a show that spans the magnitude of the English Language.
With a passion for language, Gyles has appeared on Countdown more than 300 times in the dictionary corner, has written books about scrabble, puzzles and jokes for both adults and children and also published a book on Charles and Camilla and some historical fiction.
This quirky show is something between a stand-up set, a popular lecture and an after dinner talk, but will certainly fascinate and amuse you in equal measure.
It is full of beautiful examples of the use of language; the dangers of auto-correct, the erosion of diction on TV and the art of euphonics: the pleasing sounds that certain words make.
Join Edinburgh Fringe award winner Gyles Brandreth, wit and word-meister, former MP and Government Whip, Just A Minute regular, The One Show reporter, QI, Have I Got News For You, Room 101, The IT Crowd, Pointless and Countdown survivor, on an uproarious and unexpected magic carpet ride around the awesome world of words.
Gyles Brandreth: Word Power will be at Huntingdon Hall on Saturday, May 28 at 8pm.
Tickets are £19, call the box office on 01905 611427 or visit www.huntingdonhall.co.uk for more information
