FORMER Worcester City right-back George Williams is celebrating Wembley glory after being part of the Barnsley team which won the Johnston’s Paint Trophy.

Williams played the full 90 minutes of the Tykes 3-2 triumph over Oxford United thanks to an own goal from Chey Dunkley and strikes from Ashley Fletcher and Adam Hammill.

The popular former Loughborough University defender signed for City in the summer of 2013 and made 45 appearances, mostly as right back.

His impressive performances led to his award of Player of The Season for the 2013/14 season before his departure for the Yorkshire club in December 2014.

Williams tweeted a picture of himself with the message: “Wow. Long journey to get to this point!! What an incredible day!! Absolutely buzzing!!”
