Fan's view: Williams will leave a huge hole

THEY say a week is a long time in politics and exactly the same can be said about business at Sixways.

The departure of Mike Williams – a fans’ favourite – may have been expected, but he will leave a huge hole in the pack for next season.

He is the type of player that the club want to keep to enable the squad to not just survive, but to challenge in the Aviva Premiership.

However, I am sure the supporters would want to wish him luck as he leaves for Leicester.

It may also be farewell to the Argentine contingent too as they return home to represent their country, rather than being based abroad.

As some leave through the exit door, the arrival of experienced players, like Phil Dowson, will add Premiership knowledge and skills to the squad. It will be exciting to see who Dean Ryan’s “further new signings” will be too.

It was business as usual on the pitch as Warriors notched up win number 21. The pick of the tries was an 80m score with lightning pace from Tom Biggs.

It is refreshing to see the team attack from deep like this, rather than to kick possession away.

With a young and talented back line including the outstanding centre partnership of Max Stelling and Andy Symons, Worcester certainly have the finishers to put sides away. Symons also has showed his accuracy with the boot.

As we get closer to the play-offs, the team will have to ensure every opportunity is taken to offer the fans Premiership action next season.
