SO HERE we are at the halfway point in the season and Worcester’s players and coaches will no doubt be pretty happy with where they are.
But I still think we have only seen glimpses of what they are capable of and I am sure they will be keen to put in consistent 80-minute performances in the next half of the campaign.
The backroom staff at the club will also be looking to get a very solid opinion of what their starting line-up is for the end of season play-offs.
I would imagine they have got a good idea by now, but I don’t think it will be set in stone. The most pleasing thing for them, though, would have been the performances of some of the young guns which was possibly a little bit unexpected.
The likes of Mike Daniels, Darren O’Shea, JB Bruzulier, Tiff Eden, Ben Howard and Val Rapava Ruskin have really stepped up and have just added to that mix and has kept everyone on their toes.
Having had so many changes in the summer, the first few months were all about getting a feel for each other and discovering what this league is all about.
They know they are the team to be shot at once again, so there should no surprises in the second half of the season.
Their next opponents, Cornish Pirates, will no doubt be up for the encounter. They were the only side to beat us when Worcester were last in the Championship, so I am sure they will be mentioning that in the build up.
But the players know what is expected of them now, so I am confident they will get the job done.
