Zaire Taylor leaves Wolves for London Lions

WORCESTER Wolves star Zaire Taylor has left the club to join British Basketball League rivals the London Lions.

Taylor, who played a huge part in helping the club to its first pieces of silverware in a memorable season, completed the move to the capital earlier this week and will play regularly at the Copper Box Arena which staged basketball during the London Olympic Games in 2012.

The shock move will come as a blow to Paul James’ side who are looking to build on their most successful season in history when the new campaign gets underway in the autumn.

The American, who helped Wolves clinch the BBL trophy and later the end-of-season BBL Championship Playoffs, was crowned the season’s best player winning the BBL’s MVP Award.

Taylor averaged 19 points per game and a league leading 7.1 assists and grabbed 4.5 rebounds. In the previous season he starred in Leicester Riders’ treble-winning 2012/13 BBL campaign which they won the BBL Championship, BBL Cup and the season-finale BBL Championship Playoffs.
