A DRUNK man abused pedestrians in the city centre despite being banned from the area six hours earlier, a court has heard.
On Sunday, April 20, about 2.30pm police were called to Eagle Vaults in Friar Street after they had reports of a man shouting obscenities and acting aggressively.
Officers arrived to find Sean Heelan, of St Paul’s Hostel, Tallow Hill, in an intoxicated state saying he would fight members of the public, Worcester Magistrates Court heard last Friday (May 16).
The 27-year-old was handed a Section 27 notice which told him to leave and banned him from the city centre.
However at 8.30pm police were called back to Friar Street to say a male was in a drunk state and the attending officers saw it was Heelan so arrested him for a breach of his notice, the court also heard.
Heelan, representing himself, said: “I was drunk and I wasn’t thinking.
“I can’t remember ever seeing the police officer, I can just remember waking up at the station being put in the back of the van.”
Heelan pleaded guilty to failing to comply with the direction of a PC and Magistrates fined him £100 and ordered him to pay court costs of £85 and a £20 victim surcharge.
