Fan's view: Win at Newcastle restored our pride

THERE was gloom on Sunday, but for once we are talking about the weather in Newcastle and not the result. On a cold day in the north east Dean Ryan got the ugly win he has wanted.

To put it into context, Warriors had not won away for more than two years, had not won a game in the Premiership for more than 12 months and had lost in the final minute against London Wasps last week. But they showed spirit and produced the only bit of creativity in the game to get the win they deserved.

When asked after the game how we felt, it was simply disbelief, but as we made the 240-mile journey back to Worcester the feeling of pride resonated.

One thing that was pleasing was at the end of the game when the management and team made time for the supporters who travelled up to watch the game and share the moment.

In the end, Warriors won, but the real winners were the fans who made the journey, braved the cold and discovered the feeling of winning again.

Yes, maybe the victory came too late to save our season. But having witnessed the game Worcester have a plan to move onwards and upwards whereas it will be difficult to see where and what Newcastle can do to stay in the Premiership beyond the end of next season.
