FIJI international centre Josh Matavesi will leave Worcester Warriors at the end of the season after agreeing to join Rabo Direct PRO12 outfit Ospreys.
The 23 year old’s future at Sixways appeared to be in doubt when director of rugby Dean Ryan snapped up centre Ryan Mills from Gloucester earlier this week.
Ryan said he had held talks with Matavesi and his agent, but the inside centre has decided against extending his contract at Warriors, which runs out in the summer, and has instead signed a two-year deal with the Welsh region.
However, Matavesi, who has made 38 appearances for Worcester since joining the club in 2012, insisted he will continue to do all he can to help Warriors avoid the drop this season.
“I’ve got half a season left at Worcester and there’s a big job still to be done,” he said. “That is my sole focus between now and May, before I can even look at the future and the Ospreys.”
Ryan added: “Josh has been an asset to Warriors during his time at the club and I know he will remain focused on the task here for the rest of the season. We wish him every success at Ospreys.”
