TALENTED fly half Elliot Davies will be eager to grasp his opportunity in the spotlight as he is poised to make his Worcester Warriors debut at Sale Sharks tomorrow (Saturday, 2pm).
The 19-year-old has been handed the number ten jersey for the LV= Cup clash as director of rugby Dean Ryan looks set to unleash a number of his unproven prospects.
Davies, who has enjoyed a spell on loan at National League One leaders Doncaster Knights this season, appears to have also been given the goal-kicking duties.
Loughborough University student Christian Scotland-Williamson, who scored in the last round of the competition against Leicester Tigers, is set to make his first start for the club in the second-row, while academy aces Jack Cosgrove and Andrew Boyce could also make their first team debuts.
Other notable changes sees New Zealander Cam Goodhue start at flanker alongside number eight Semisi Taulava and Rob O’Donnell return to the in the front-row.
Warriors will have the chance to secure back to back wins for the first time this season after they beat Oyonnax 20-13 at Sixways last weekend.
However, with a number of first team regulars left out, Ryan said he was more excited about seeing how well his talented youngsters performed on the big stage.
“We know the challenge that is coming and we know what we are trying to do over the next month,” Ryan.
“The LV= Cup is there to give opportunities and we have been consistent with that all the way through this season.
“It is about creating opportunities for some of the youngsters to create a reputation for themselves.
“Growing youngsters is an unknown. Sometimes they can surprise you with how well they respond. You have to give them opportunity.”
