In-form City ready for Altrincham test

WORCESTER City will be looking to lift themselves out of the Skrill Conference North relegation zone when they make the trip to Altrincham tonight (Tuesday).

A third win on the spin could propel Carl Heeley’s men out of the bottom three if Oxford City fail to beat league leaders North Ferriby United.

The Blue and Whites go into the game high in confidence having beaten in-form Colwyn Bay 2-1 at Aggborough on Saturday to secure back-to-back league games for the first time this season.

Tonight’s opponents earned a 3-1 win at Aggborough on the opening day of the season, but with more experience added, and a recent upturn in form, City manager Heeley says his side have nothing to fear.

“We’ve got another incredibly tough game at Altrincham but we can go there in decent shape, certainly confidence wise in probably the best shape we’ve been in all season,” he said.

“We knew it would be a long old slog during the winter months and we’ve adapted to try and cater for that and at the moment it’s worked.

“We’ve got two positive results and hopefully we can continue that up at Altrincham.”

Heeley is hoping centre-backs Shab Khan and Graham Hutchison will both be available following injuries.
