Fans can pull team through says Arr

SCRUM half Jonny Arr has called on supporters to create a “special” atmosphere at Sixways on Friday night which he believes will help inspire Worcester Warriors to victory over third placed Bath.

Saturday’s demoralising 40-6 defeat at the hands of Exeter Chiefs was Warriors’ sixth successive defeat in the Aviva Premiership this season as they slipped further into the relegation mire – eight points adrift of safety.

But Worcester-born Arr insisted the thought of life in the RFU Championship next season had not crossed the players’ minds as they prepare for a big performance against Bath.

Despite their opponents’ rich vein of form having lost just two games all season, Arr believes a big crowd on Friday night could work in Worcester’s favour as they attempt to end their wretched run of results.

“While it has been a difficult time for us, it has also been a difficult time for the fans,” Arr said.

“But Friday nights usually bring a very special atmosphere at Sixways, so hopefully the Warriors faithful will turn up in numbers and give the boys a boost.

“There is no doubt that Bath are a dangerous side. Their forwards performed particularly well last week against Gloucester, so it will a big battle up front.

“They have also got some dangerous runners in their back-line with the likes of Kyle Eastmond and Jonathon Joseph.

“But we will take a good look at them this week and find areas which we can exploit.

“All the boys are excited and champing at the bit to get out there again and get that first win.”
