Wolves snap up Lithuanian star from BBL rivals

WORCESTER Wolves have made their second summer signing this week after completing a deal to sign Lithuanian star Donatas Visockis from Cheshire Phoenix.

Visockis, 28, signs for the club after enjoying a successful time with Cheshire being among the BBL’s top five rebounders and averaged eleven points per game for the franchise.

The 6ft 10ins basketball star becomes the latest Lithuanian to join the club following the likes of Arnas Kazlauskas and Arturas Masiulis who have starred for Wolves in recent years.

Visokis follows American centre Robert Thurman to join the reigning BBL Trophy and BBL Playoffs after securing his move earlier this week.

Thurman replaces Will Creekmore who has decided to leave the club after one season with the Wolves.

Worcester Wolves Director of Basketball Paul James said: “I’m delighted that Donatas has joined the Wolves.

“He impressed me when we played Cheshire last year and posted good numbers over the course of the season. He’ll do well for us.

“We have had a strong tradition of Lithuanian players at the club, but last year was the first time for quite a while where there were none in the squad.

“There is a lively Lithuanian community in and around Worcester, as has been shown whenever their national team has played here. I’m looking forward to seeing them come along to the University Arena to support Donatas.”
