Vuna wants to end season in style against Sarries

WARRIORS winger Cooper Vuna insists the club have nothing to lose when they host Saracens in their final Aviva Premiership match of the season this Saturday.

The Auckland-born player, who has scored seven tries this campaign, knows European Champions Cup finalists and table-toppers Sarries will prove a tough challenge at Sixways, but believes if his side can match their opponents from the offset they can ‘do some damage’.

Vuna also insists the players are itching to show what they can achieve as a team before the season ends.

“I think it’s been a pretty good year for a team that’s just come up from the Championship. We came up with the intention of wanting to disrupt big Premiership teams and we started off with a big scalp against Northampton Saints,” said the 28-year-old.

“But we drifted in mid-season and struggled to see games out. We want to end the campaign in a way that rectifies what we’re about and what we can achieve as a team.

“We need to prove to ourselves and to each other that we can keep building ahead of the next campaign.

“Saracens will prove a hard challenge and we’ll defiantly have to pull out strings together to give it everything we’ve got.

“If we get off to the right start we know we can cause some damage. We can’t wait for them to throw punches then react. They’re are side that don’t hold back from anything, so we have to front up to them and meet them at the line.

“These are the type of games you have to turn up to from the offset and we know they’re not going to take it easy on us, so we have to make sure we do our jobs right.

“It’s going to be a tough contest and we’re going to have to dig a lot deeper than normal if we want to claim the win, but we know we can cause an upset.

“Saracens are worrying about the bigger prize at the end, but we’ve got nothing to lose. We’re pumped and ready to give our fans something to shout about,” he added.

Warriors’ clash against Saracens kicks off at 3.30pm.
