WORCESTER Cavaliers secured a place in the Aviva A League semi-finals following an impressive 59-11 victory over Newcastle Falcons at Sixways.

Tries from Andrew Boyce and Ravai Fatiaki as well as some faultless kicking by Ignacio Mieres saw Warriors’ second string lead 23-11 at the break.

Falcons offered some resistance in the opening period as Lee Smith crossed, but the Cavaliers proved too good in the end as they ran out convincing winners.

Josh Drauniniu and Perry Humphreys struck twice, while Dan Sanderson and Charlie Mulchrone also got themselves on the scoresheet as the hosts collected their fifth straight win in the competition.

TOMMY Bell scored a hat-trick as Worcester Wanderers hammered Leek 42-0 to move up to second in Midlands One West.

Two of the wing’s tries came in the opening period as the home side got off to a superb start at Westons, with Paul Burton, Mike Dodge and Olly Meadows also making an impact.

Wanderers were also winning the forward battle and, after a series of scrums, Leek’s resistance soon broke as number eight Jake Saddington helped himself to two pushover tries.

The second half continued in the same fashion for Wanderers who dominated territory and they soon made their pressure tell when Callum Partridge eased over.

Bell then completed his hat-trick before Lee Watson went over to round off an impressive Wanderers display.

A BRAVE effort from Worcester Ladies’ inexperience side was eventually overcome by league leaders Saracens who ran in four tries in the final 15 minutes to win 32-5.

Worcester dominated the first half but found themselves trailing 10-5 at the break after Saracens made best use of their only two visits to the 22.

The hosts stayed in the game with a try from Rachael Lund but, when Saracens introduced two internationals on 50 minutes, the match turned in their opponents’ favour.

French wing Seraphine Okemba and Lynn Cattell both bagged braces as Saracens came away with maximum points.
