Power forward Pavol joins Wolves

WORCESTER Wolves continue to bolster their squad for the forthcoming season with the signing of power forward Pavol Losonsky.

The 6ft 8in Slovakian international will team up once again with Jay Couisnard, another summer signing for the club, who hope to return silverware to the city after a disappointing campaign last season.

Both Losonsky and Couisnard played for the Leicester Riders in their triple-winning campaign of 2012, when Losonsky averaged 13 points and six rebounds per game.

Last year whilst in a Leicester jersey, Losonsky played limited minutes, yet still averaged nine points and five rebounds per game which caught the eye of Wolves head coach Paul James.

“I’ve tried to sign Pavol for the past couple of seasons and I’m grateful to the Wolves board for making it possible,” said James.

“Pavol is another smart and quality player we have added to our roster and a player who knows how to win.

“I believe that the best is still yet to come from Pavol and I’m looking forward to him showing his true qualities with the Wolves and within our system,” he added.

Losonsky said: “I’m returning to a league which I already know and understand and I’m thankful Worcester are giving me an opportunity to show what I’m really capable of.

“For me it will be a third year in the British Basketball League and I’m ready for the new challenge. My goals stay the same and those are winning trophies.”

Wolves expect to unveil another new signing in the coming week.
