New faces called for at academy sessions

Worcester Editorial 21st Nov, 2014 Updated: 19th Oct, 2016   0

AFTER Worcester City’s FA Cup heroics, budding footballers are being encouraged to put their boots on and brush up on their skills.

Academy sessions aimed at the next generation of football stars are being run at Bishop Perowne High School, on Merrimans Hill Road, by Kevin Brookes and Mark Owen.

Kevin, who has been coaching for about four years, was the brains behind the idea and roped in Mark, current academy manager at the Blue and Whites, to join him.

“We have got Mark here who is an academy manager so that is a big selling point for youngsters, that they can come here and get that academy feel within a pressure-free environment,” said Kevin.

“Some of the kids are very, very talented but we want more and more people to come, it doesn’t matter about ability, we want to develop them.”

Up to 40 youngsters aged between four and 12 regularly attend the sessions, which are run on Fridays from 6pm to 7pm.

Anyone interested can go along for two free ‘taster’ sessions and for more information contact Kevin on 07969 210199.
