MATCH SUMMARY – Exeter Chiefs proved too strong for Worcester Warriors as a brace from Jack Yeandle and further tries from Mitch Lees and Thomas Waldrom saw the visitors to a comfortable victory at Sixways. Ignacio Mieres struck twice from the tee, but Warriors failure to breakthrough Exeter’s defence proved to be the difference. Thanks for following.

More on try – Exeter get what they have been looking for as former Leicester number eight Thomas Waldrom makes amends for his earlier yellow card with a try at the death following a drive to the line. Slade coolly dispatches the conversion.

75min – The Chiefs, meanwhile, do find space which Henry Slade’s exploits as he sprints through before getting stopped in his tracks.

72min – Warriors’ fans desperately trying to urge their side on for their first try of the night as the hosts look for any gaps in Exeter’s defence.

66min – Despite going down to 14 men, Exeter are peppering Worcester’s line and should have extended their lead. But the visitors dropped the ball when they tried to touch it down under the posts.

62min – YELLOW CARD – Exeter’s Thomas Waldrom  gets sent to the sin-bin.

59min – An uncharacteristic fumble from full back Chris Pennell sees Exeter gained ground in Worcester’s half as they look to score their fourth try of the evening and all but seal victory.

-Director of rugby Dean Ryan making a number of changes, with Dean Hammond, Charlie Mulchrone, Ravai Fatiaki and Val Rapava Ruskin all being introduced.

50min – Warriors almost respond instantly as James Percival was stopped just short of the line after the hosts’ forward laid the platform.

More on try – After heavy pressure on Worcester’s line, Exeter’s pack eventually power over the whitewash, with Yeandle once again touching the ball down. Steenson confidently slotted home the conversion.

46min – CONVERSION – Worcester Warriors 6-19 Exeter Chiefs – Steenson 

45min – TRY – Worcester Warriors 6-17 Exeter Chiefs – Yeandle 

43min – Exeter looking to pull further clear at the start of the second period as Steenson kicks into the corner after strong scrummaging led to a penalty.

Second half underway

-The half time interval saw the Worcester Ladies players who played a part in England’s Women’s Rugby World Cup success this summer parade the trophy.

HALF TIME SUMMARY – Worcester Warriors looked strong throughout and opened the scoring with a penalty from Ignacio Mieres. But Exeter proved their Aviva Premiership class with two well-taken tries from captain Jack Yeandle and Mitch Lees.

35min – PENALTY MISS – Worcester Warriors 6-12 Exeter Chiefs – Mieres misses a pretty simple chance to get within three points as his penalty effort goes wide.

More on try – Steenson cuts through Warriors’ defence before superbly offloading to Mitch Lees who sprinted under the posts. Steenson added the extras.

21min – PENALTY MISS – Mieres has a go from distance but his effort falls way short of the target.

More on try – After Tom James forced Chris Pennell into touch following Steenson’s kick into the corner, a lineout on the five metre line eventually led to Jack Yeandle being forced over the whitewash.

17min – CONV MISS – Steenson sees his attempt clatter the upright.

16min – TRY – Worcester Warriors 3-5 Exeter Chiefs – Jack Yeandle

10min – Worcester’s intensity has been very impressive so far, with a number of huge hits going in, notably from Van Velze and Ryan Bower.

8min – Warriors looking lively in the early stages. Tom Biggs almost got on the end of Mieres’ cross-field kick, which the wing just failed to gather.

4min – PENALTY – Worcester Warriors 3-0 Exeter Chiefs – Ignacio Mieres slots home a simple penalty to give his side the lead.

3min – Play is back underway here after Chudley was carried out on a stretcher. Warriors on the attack and get their first chance at the posts.

1min – The stretcher is already out at Sixways after scrum half Will Chudley was taken out by GJ Van Velze’s trailing leg as he powered forward.

-Kick off – Gareth Steenson gets the match underway with a big boot upfield

-Craig Gillies has just walked onto the field where he was greeted by a huge round of applause by the Worcester faithful. He thanked the fans as well as staff at the club for all their support throughout his 11 years at Warriors.
