Worcester Editorial 3rd Mar, 2015 Updated: 19th Oct, 2016   0

LIVE updates from our man at Aggborough, Jonny Bonell, where Worcester City are in Vanarama Conference North action against Guiseley.

The live update has now finished.

– A very dogged performance that from City to claim a point against the promotion hopefuls. Their cause was not helped by the dismissal of Aaron Brown just over 20 minutes into proceedings. The red card didn’t deter Worcester and they took the lead ten minutes later thanks to a Mike Symons header before Adam Boyes second half strike drew the scores level. Guiseley dominated towards the end but Worcester held out for the point. Thanks for following tonight.

FULL TIME: WORCESTER CITY 1-1 GUISELEY AFC

90+4min: Yellow: Nti has gone in the book, after he was brought down by the Guiseley penalty box. Strange decision and a goal-kick to Guiseley.

90+1min: City currently seem to be deploying a 5-3-1 to resist the visiting attack.

5 minutes added time.

89min: All the late pressure is Guiseley here as Boyes again takes aim but Boot holds well.

85min: Evans nearly playes Haynes into trouble but despite Lowe getting to the ball quickest his touch was poor and the ball went out for a City throw.

83min: Boot taking as much time over his goal kicks as he possibly can as he looks to preserve the point City currently have.

78min: Haynes very close to re-establishing Worcester’s lead as he cuts in from the right but his effort is well kept out. Alex Johnson brought on for Guiseley for Dickinson in Guiseley’s second change.

77min: Yellow: Holdsworth picks up a yellow for persistent fouling. Greeted by ironic cheers from the Worcester fans.

71min: Dickinson comes close again for the visitors but he drags his shot past the far post.

68min: SUB: Geddes replaced from Evans in City’s second change of the evening.

66min: The goal had been coming from the visitors. City appealed for handball when Boshell’s header hit Dickinson but nothing doing for the referee.

More on goal: 63 on the clock as Lowe gets down the left and pulls a cross back which Nicky Boshell heads back across goal, it hits Dickinson and falls into the path of Boyes who pokes home. Symons booked for Worcester in the aftermath.

GOAL: Worcester City 1-1 Guiseley AFC – Adam Boyes

62min: City seem to have settled again now and look dangerous on the break but it is still Guiseley doing the bulk of the pressing here.

59min: SUB: Lawlor comes off for Nicky Boshell in Guiseley’s first change.

58min: Brooksby creating all the danger down the left for Guiseley as he drills a cross which beats Boot and only narrowly avoids a touch from Boyes.

54min: Haynes makes a rare burst into the visitors half this half and cuts in from the right but his tame effort is comfortably held by Drench.

53min: Pressure nearly told then as Thomas’ clearance only made it to Boyes who hit a half-volley which Boot had to throw himself towards to keep out.

52min: City defending deep here seemingly inviting on the Guiseley pressure.

50min: Good chance for Guiseley as Boyes tees up Brooksby on the edge of the box. The midfielder has looked dangerous all night but his effort is ballooned high and out of the Aggborough stadium.

48min: Jackman has the first meaningful effort of the half but he slices his effort past the post. Decent start by Worcester.

45min: SUB: Daniel Nti comes on for Dunkley as City make the first change of the game.

Attendance: 333

Two teams are back out and the second half is underway.

– Things looked bleak for Worcester after 22 minutes when Aaron Brown received a straight red card for a professional foul on Wayne Brooksby but City regrouped and lead at the interval thanks to a Mike Symons header nine minutes later from a Sean Geddes corner. Guiseley have done most of the pressing here and have hit the post, but it is Worcester who lead at the break.

Half-time: Worcester City 1-0 Guiseley AFC

2 minutes added time.

45min: Dickinson wastes another chance for the visitors as Boyes sets him up but he was leaning back and fired rashly over the top.

44min: Still more Guiseley pressure as Boshell fires a volley just over the top from inside the box.

42min: Brooksby is looking dangerous down the left and he cuts in and fires a vicious strike which Boot does well to keep hold of.

41min: Rowe doing his best to rev his players up here with less than five minutes to go before the break.

40min: The visitors still doing most of the attacking here. Think Heeley will be looking to get his players into the break as things stand.

35min: Guiseley have responded well to going a goal down here. Brooksby just squared the ball back to Dickinson who fluffed his lines. Good chance that.

More on goal: 31 minutes on the clock as Symons rises highest from a Geddes corner to flick his header into the far corner. Great work from Dunkley to earn the corner.

GOAL: Worcester 1-0 Guiseley – Mike Symons

29min: Decent football from City who are just trying to regroup after the early setback of going down to ten men.

27min: Wave after wave of visiting attacks now. Boyes next to try his luck as he fires over from 25 yards.

26min: WOODWORK: Guiseley come the closest yet as yet more good work from Toulson down the right finds Dickinson in the box, he connects with the low cross but his efforts deflects wide off the post.

23min: Dickinson almost added further pain to the hosts there as his free-kick flies narrowly over the top.

22min: RED: Brown is giving his marching orders for City for a cynical challenge on Brooksby. The pacey midfielder had burst through a static City midfield and Brown was adjudged to be the last man.

16min: Hall goes close for Guiseley as he meets a Holdsworth corner and it ripples the side netting.

15min: Toulson does well on the right and whips a decent ball in which Dickinson meets but his looping header is well held by Boot.

12min: Jackman picks the ball up from deep and charges at the Guiseley back line but fires his 25-yard effort well wide.

11min: A long throw from Toulson on the right goes all the way through the City box and finds Lawlor who rashly fires wide.

8min: Closest we have come to a goal here as Dunkley does well on the left before teeing up Geddes. The midfielder attempts to bend one into the far corner but it is just too high.

6min: A great ball out of defence from Thomas almost sets Dunkley away but his touch on the chest is slightly to heavy and the chance has gone.

2min: Good early spell of pressure from Worcester but Guiseley have the first chance of the game as Lowe whips in a dangerous ball which Dickinson meets but it is deflected behind for a corner. Corner comes to nothing.

1min: Guiseley get us underway here, kicking from right to left wearing all yellow, City in their traditional blue and white.

KICK OFF

– The teams are out here and we are about ready for kick off.

– Carl Heeley makes one change from the team which drew 3-3 away at Chorley at the weekend as recent loan-signing Jonathan Lynch comes in for Shab Khan. Two-goal hero of that game Tristan Dunkley keeps his place after shaking off a knock and Daniel Nti returns to the substitute bench following a spell on the sidelines with a knee injury.

Here are today’s teams:

Worcester City: Ryan Boot; Kyle Haynes, Jonathan Lynch, Jacob Rowe, Wayne Thomas; Aaron Brown, Danny Jackman, Ellis Deeney (C); Sean Geddes, Tristan Dunkley; Mike Symons SUBS: Micah Evans, Nick Wright, Daniel Nti, Jose Sousa, Jose Veiga

Guiseley AFC: Steven Drench; Ryan Toulson, Danny Lowe, Danny Ellis, Danny Hall; Jake Lawlor, Wayne Brooksby, Danny Boshell, Andy Holdsworth (C); Adam Boyes, Liam Dickinson SUBS: Jordan Hendrie, Alex Johnson, Kyle Harrison, Nicky Boshell, Steve Dickinson

Referee: Tim Wood

– A usually resolute City back-line has conceded seven goals in their last two outings – yet still hold the joint second best defensive record in the league – and Heeley will be looking for more of the rearguard steel which has served them well so far this campaign, tonight against Guiseley.

– Welcome to Aggborough, the temporary home of the Blue and Whites, where Carl Heeley’s men will be looking to secure themselves three points against promotion hopefuls Guiseley. To see our preview ahead of the game, click here.
