LEE Richardson and Chris Kyte battled their way through atrocious conditions to win a hard-earned 18-Hole Open pairs competition at Worcester Golf & Country Club.
Competitiors from as far afield as Cardiff had to suffer incessant rain all day and only 17 pairs managed to break par for the course.
With the course holding up well, there were some good scores and, surprisingly, all the prize-winners came from the home club with scratch golfer Richardson and Kyte [seven handicap] recording a creditable 42 Stableford points to lift the trophy.
Kyte was a late replacement and played an important role in the partnership, making his shot allowance count at crucial times.
Runners-up, on countback, were Tony English [7] and Martin Lewis [9]. In third spot, again on countback was club vice-captain Tony Sanders [6] and Darren Warner [4] on 41 points.
They pushed Rob Perrins [6] and Jason Hancocks [5] back into fourth place. Mark Hamer [12] and Mark Smith [8] took fifth slot on countback with 40 points.
