Fan's View: Pirates pose big threat to Warriors

Worcester Editorial 16th Apr, 2015 Updated: 19th Oct, 2016   0

AFTER the elation of the British & Irish Cup final we put in a solid enough performance against a Yorkshire side which held hopes of a play-off spot this season to get the maximum five points.

But we are going to need much better performances away to Cornish Pirates and then at home to Bristol if we are to finish this league in first position.

Pirates are the only side, so far this season, to beat Bristol in the league and they were playing at their home.  Although this away trip is a firm favourite with the fans, I do not think the team will be relishing the trip nearly as much.

A well-drilled side, with a quality and passion that really shows itself when they play at home. Our Warriors side is going to have to treat this game as another cup final if we are to gain enough points to make the Bristol game actually mean something.

Somebody at the RFU deemed it clever planning to make our games with Bristol numbers one and 22 of the season.

The first game was a real learning curve for both sides and if we do not manage to win this weekend (and Bristol beat Jersey) then there will be nothing riding on the final fixture, other than pride and maybe some bragging rights ahead of the play-offs.

Because of the play-off system, it really doesn’t matter if you come first or second, but I know the majority of fans and all at the club really want to finish top.

Knockout rugby against London Scottish and then the final double-header awaits the team that performs best in the next two games. No wonder so many fans did not bother watching the previous 20 games of the season.
