WARRIORS’ youth development programme continues to pay dividends after eight youngsters represented England last weekend.
Five Warriors stars-in-the-making helped England Academies Under-17s defeat France 19-17 at Kingston Park on Saturday, while a further three featured in England Under-16s’ 23-22 defeat to Welsh Schools on Sunday.
Hooker Beck Cutting, tighthead Nick Rigby, lock James Scott and back row Ted Hill all started for their country in the win against France, while second rower Laurence Weston came off the bench.
And despite defeat for the Under-16s, there was a brace of tries for Warriors’ young centre Oliver Lawrence.
Both loosehead prop Tom Furnival and Lawrence started for the youngsters in Caerphilly, with lock Tom Fawcett coming into the action from the bench.
Mark Hewitt, Three Pears Academy manager, said: “It’s great to see so many of our lads gaining recognition and getting game time for their country.
“Hopefully we’ll see more youngsters come to fruition as we look to drive standards across the board.”
