The Craig Gillies Column: Warriors must put teams to the sword

IT TURNED out to be a real nail-biter on Friday night and probably a lot closer than the Warriors would have wanted.

I think they would have been pleased by the first half performance, but not so much the second half.

Some credit must go to Jersey as they stuck to their guns and kept coming at the Warriors, when people thought they would fade away they actually started to turn the game around.

But, it is a slight concern that Warriors are not capitalizing on the good starts they are making and pushing on to really put teams to the sword.

There was a similar situation last week I believe and the word out of the camp is that there were a few choice words from Dean Ryan after the Plymouth game, so I would imagine they would be determined to put that right against Moseley this weekend.

The match against Jersey was actually the first time I have seen Worcester play this month as it has been a busy last few weeks.

I was supposed to fly out to the Caribbean last week to play in Bermuda Classic with the Classic Lions, which I was really looking forward to. It would have been the first time I had pulled the boots on since I retired from professional rugby.

But unfortunately I had to pull out due to a blood clot (DVT) in my calf, which was really disappointing.

This news came just a few days after I returned from Tanzania where I managed to successfully complete my Mount Kilimanjaro climb.

It was an incredible trip from start to finish and an experience which I am privileged to have undertaken.

It was a demanding trek – both mentally and physically challenging, but there was a huge sense of achievement when I got to the top.

As an ambassador for Alopecia Research-UK, I also managed to raise some money for the charity, which was great.
