City prepare to face league leaders North Ferriby United

WORCESTER City are still looking for their first win of the Vanarama Conference North and face a tough challenge later today (Saturday) when league leaders North Ferriby United visit Aggborough.

The Villagers have bounced back from last season’s play-off heartbreak by securing four victories and a draw in their opening five games to take an early lead over the rest of the pack.

In contrast, City have failed to win any of their first five fixtures, with four draws and a solitary defeat leaving Carl Heeley’s men in 18th place ahead of the encounter.

Nick Wright and Mike Symons will be looking to fire the Blue and Whites up the table, with Wright’s opening-day brace against Stalybridge Celtic and Symons header against Tamworth the only time Worcester have found the back of the net.

Both Daniel Udoh and Tristian Dunkley are pushing for starts after impressing in several cameos from the substitutes bench, while Connor Gater hasn’t featured since August 12 due to injury.

Ferriby did the double over Worcester last season, stealing a 1-0 win at a wind-swept Aggborough in November before they held out for a 2-1 success at the Eon Visual Media Stadium in March.

Manager Heeley said: “We are looking solid at the back and have dominated some of the games and obviously we need to be taking the chances we are presented with.

“I am very confident in the team and with Nick Wright getting more games in, having not played much, it is only a matter of time before he starts banging in goals.

“I wouldn’t want to be the team on the receiving end.”
