Annett continues Warriors journey

WARRIORS hooker Niall Annett has signed a new contract with the club.

The 24-year-old has played a big role in the squad over the last 18 months since joining from Ulster in 2014.

The talented forward enjoyed a fine debut campaign as he helped Worcester Cavaliers reach the Aviva A League final for the first time in the club’s history, while also playing a part in Warriors’ B&I Cup glory.

In the first leg of the Championship final against Bristol, it was Annett’s try at the death that gave Warriors the all important one point advantage, which turned out to be the difference between the two sides as Worcester returned to the Premiership.

Annett has continued to grow from strength to strength, becoming a Warriors regular in the Aviva Premiership this term having starting all nine league matches and notching himself a try against Gloucester at Kingsholm.

“I’m delighted to sign a new contract at a club. It’s such an ambitious, professional and competitive environment, where I feel I can continue to improve with the help of all the players, coaches and backroom staff,” said Annett.

“It’s been brilliant to be involved with so many talented and like-minded players who want this place to be a success.

“I’ve really enjoyed being around the group here. I’ve made some great friends and I look forward to an exciting future at Sixways,” he added.

Director of Rugby Dean Ryan said: “Niall is a perfect example of the kind of personnel we want to keep attracting to the club.

“He came to Sixways, understood what we were trying to build and recognised the importance of competition across the squad.

“His response was to raise his game, and we’ve been really impressed with his application and progress. We look forward to continuing our work with Annett in order to help him realise his full potential.”
