THE WORLD was not enough for children in Worcester who got their hands on a new book following the latest adventures of a young James Bond.

A number of youngsters turned out at The Hive last Wednesday (November 12) to hear the very first reading of Young Bond: Shoot to Kill, by Steve Cole.

The best-selling children’s author also revealed how he became such a fan of Ian Fleming’s work and shared the research behind his creation.

It is the first Young Bond novel in six years and will pick up from the final book, called By Royal Command.

Steve said: “Writing my own Young Bond adventure has been every bit as thrilling as discovering Bond for the first time, when I saw For Your Eyes Only at the cinema as a nine-year-old.

“I was hooked, and before long was working my way through Ian Fleming’s original James Bond novels at Bedford Central Library.

“In Shoot to Kill, teenage James’ misadventures push him ever closer to the man he will become, with death, destruction and the unexpected lurking at every sudden turn.”
