ORGANISERS of the Worcester Carnival have announced this year’s event has been cancelled due to ‘operational circumstances.’
The news was announced with ‘great sadness’ by organisers on the event’s Facebook page this afternoon (Wednesday).
It was due to take place this Sunday (August 28) with floats lined up to parade along a route through the city centre.
In a statement on the event’s Facebook page, organisers said: “It is with great sadness that the carnival committee announce the postponement of the 2016 carnival celebrations.
“Sadly operational circumstances beyond their control have meant the 2016 carnival cannot go ahead.
“The organisers wish to convey their apologies to those who had arranged floats, stalls and activities as well as members of the public who had planned to attend.
“But the committee also assure everyone that the carnival in 2017 will be bigger and better than ever.”
