Most Worcestershire cancer patients pleased with care

Worcester Editorial 28th Sep, 2016 Updated: 19th Oct, 2016   0

NEARLY 90 per cent of cancer patients in Worcestershire rated their hospital care as excellent or good, according to new figures.

The survey, conducted by the National Cancer Patient Experience Programme, shows high performance was maintained in 2015 for cancer patients treated at Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust.

Out of more than 209 Clinical Commissioning Groups and 146 Acute NHS Hospital Trusts, Worcestershire remained in the top 30 per cent for patient support.

The trust also scored more than 85 per cent in areas such as, hospital staff telling patients they could get free prescriptions, patients always being treated with respect and dignity by staff and GPs given enough information about patient’s condition and treatment.

Adel Makar, associate medical director for Cancer Services for Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust welcomed this year’s survey results and said: “It is important for us to continue to gather feedback from our patients on the cancer services that we offer.

“It is great to see that so many of our patients are pleased with their care as we aim to give all our cancer patients the very best care and to support them through their journey.”
