'Welcome Wednesdays' at city church for people to relax

A CITY church has opened its doors for the public to enjoy a space to relax and meet new people.

The weekly ‘Welcome Wednesdays’ will be held at St Andrew’s Methodist Church in Pump Street between 11am and 2pm.

The hall and lounge will offer visitors somewhere to relax, meet other people, talk and be listened to.

There will be a short service in the Prayer Chapel at 11am and other activities such as singing and conversation groups will be offered, when requested.

Rev Helen Caine, minister of St Andrew’s said: “We want to make more use of the building during the week, and we hope that “Welcome Wednesdays” will develop to meet hidden needs.

“We know there are people coming into the city who have to wait for buses, or between appointments. Here they can meet with others and find a friendly welcome.”
