SEVERN Trent Water is set to start work in St John’s next week as part of a £350,000 investment to improve supplies in the Bromyard Road area.
The company will replace and repair more than three kilometres of pipes, starting in Claphill Lane on Monday (September 1).
The road will be closed until late September while the work is carried out.
Jonathan Tait, Severn Trent programme manager, apologised for any inconvenience it would cause but said the repairs were essential.
“A lot of our water pipes have been serving the community for many years,” he added.
“Because of their age they’re now more prone to bursts, which can cause interruptions to our customers’ water supply and the service we provide.
“We’re committed to preventing this from happening and making sure our Worcester customers continue to receive a high quality service. That’s why we’ve invested so heavily across the city over the last year.”
The work will be carried out by Severn Trent and its contract partner Amey.
“To allow us to complete the work safely and quickly Claphill Lane will be closed until late September,” Mr Tait added.
“We expect that all of the work in the area will be finished by November. We’d like to say sorry for any inconvenience this may cause – we’ll do all we can to keep the disruption to a minimum.”
