A MUSIC festival is set to strum up the cash to help with vital research into cancer.
Staff at the Cancer Research UK shop on The Cross have teamed up with Barbourne Ex Services Club to stage the event at the club as part of the national Stand Up To Cancer campaign.
The live show, on Friday (October 31) features a host of singers including acclaimed Tina Turner tribute act Dolly James.
Stand Up To Cancer is a joint fund-raising campaign from Cancer Research UK and Channel 4, which raises money to fund vital research which will get new and better treatments to cancer patients faster.
The Stand Up To Cancer live television show helped raise more than £14 million for the cause.
Karen Marshall, Cancer research UK shop manager, said: “Many of our staff, volunteers and customers have lost colleagues, friends and family to cancer and so we know how devastating the disease can be.
“But the good news is that thanks to research more men, women and children are surviving cancer than ever before.
“By supporting Stand Up To Cancer, the people of Worcester can show that it really is payback time, a chance to provide our doctors, nurses and scientists with the money that they need to develop more effective treatments to save more lives and help beat cancer sooner.”
Tickets for the event, which runs from 7.30pm to 12.30am cost £4 and can be bought from either the Cancer Research UK shop on The Cross, Worcester or Barbourne Ex Services Club on The Moors. On the night there will also be a raffle and charity haircut.
