SOS Fest pulls in the crowds

THOUSANDS of visitors flocked to Worcester Racecourse to get a close up look on the city’s emergency services.

The SOS fest 14 was held at Pitchcroft on Saturday (July 12) to give residents the chance to join officers and staff to find out more about their work.

West Mercia Police and Police and Crime Commissioner Bill Longmore held the event, which enabled people to view emergency vehicles and police equipment.

Supt for South Worcestershire Mark Travis said: “We are very fortunate in South Worcestershire to have the support of the community and we felt it very important to pay back that support by showing the very positive nature of how we serve the community with our partners.

“People have been able to see the full breadth of what we do everyday as difference agencies, from local policing to work with the other responders to make Worcester a safe place.

“It was also great to see so many youngsters who had a chance to get hands on and see what we do up close.

“It was a really successful day to build on the great relationships all of the exhibitors have with the community. The flooding earlier this year has not held this community back.”
