AN ARMY soldier has been given a conditional discharge for 12 months for being drunk and disorderly.

Frederick Hobbs, of Green Lane, pleaded guilty at Worcester Magistrates’ Court last Friday (May 1) to being drunk on Coney Green Close causing a disturbance.

Owen Beale, prosecuting, told the court police were called at 3.30am on April 7 to the road where they found the 24-year-old outside with his partner shouting and swearing, the officers could not get him to stop so they arrested him.

Hobbs represented himself, he said: “I had just come off of tour, I drank to excess and just messed up.”

District Judge Jim Tindal gave him the conditional discharge and ordered him to pay a victim surcharge of £15 and £85 in court costs.

He said: “I’m sure I do not need to remind you that if you keep offending in this way not only will you keep getting into trouble within the courts, the sentences will increase and the military will tire of it and you will lose your job.”
