A WORCESTER man will be among a team of thrill seekers taking on a wing-walking challenge this summer.

Wayne Powell, a fire and security expert, will join nine others taking part in the adrenaline fuelled challenge at Leicester airport on August 21.

Hoping to raise £1,000 for St Richard’s Hospice, Wayne will be safely strapped into a five-point harness of a plane, reaching speeds of up to 130mph.

The event will be organised by St Richard’s Hospice and Aerobatic Tactics, the only company in the UK to hold permission from the Civil Aviation Authority to offer such experiences to the public.

He said: “When I heard that St Richard’s were organising their first wing-walking day, I couldn’t resist signing up. This is a great opportunity to help a worthy cause and of course I’m looking forward to the thrill of being stood on top of a plane.

“I’ve always wanted to try wing-walking and have heard such great things about the hospice, so how could I refuse? My family and friends have been very supportive and I am confident that I will be able to reach my £1,000 fundraising target.”
