Sexual assault on city teenager

A TEENAGER was sexually assaulted as she walked back to her car on Portland Street.

West Mercia Police are appealing for information after the 18 year-old was attacked at approximately 1am on Saturday (July 18).

The victim walked onto Mill Street and then onto Portland Street towards her parked car.

Officers said she was then grabbed from behind by an unknown man.




The offender is described as a white man, between the age of 30 and 40 years of age of a slim build, approximately 5ft 8ins tall, with short shaved hair and dark stubble.

He was wearing a long dark and long sleeved top with a round top.


DCI John Cashion from West Mercia Police said:  “We understand that this incident is concerning and worrying for the local community, we are working with the victim to provide support through this distressing time.

“A thorough and robust investigation is underway following this incident, our officers are exploring all avenues of inquiries to ensure that we locate the offender and bring him to justice.

“There will be an increase in police patrols in and around the area until further notice and ask anyone who saw anything suspicious at the time of the incident or since then to come forward to police as soon as possible.

Anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident or has any further information is asked to come forward to police by dialling 101 and quoting the incident reference 94s of 18th July.
