A SECONDARY school choir has been chosen to join a professional opera society’s performance.

Bishop Perowne CE College will be special guests at Great Witley Operatic Society’s ‘Into the West End’ performances on Sunday (June 21) at the schools theatre and Sunday (June 28) at Malvern’s Coach House Theatre.

The choir will be introducing a selection of modern songs into the operatic society’s traditional set, including Pompeii, Next To Me, You Got The Love, Valerie and Just The Way You Are.

These will be showcased around the music by Roger and Hammerstein’s II, Andrew Lloyd Webber and Sondheim and Schwartz, with songs from The Sound of Music, Phantom of the Opera and Sweeney Todd.

Headteacher Mark Pollard, said: “Our choir is delighted to have been asked to take part in the two performances. Giving our students the chance to join experienced groups, such as the Great Witley Operatic Society, really helps to develop their skills and encourage them to strive to achieve more success. The students have been rehearsing extremely hard and are looking forward to joining in with the ‘Into the West End’ performances.”

Tickets cost £10 can be bought by contacting Great Witley Operatic Society on 01905 425299 or by e-mailing [email protected]
