Road surveys could cause delays

Worcester Editorial 16th Oct, 2014 Updated: 19th Oct, 2016   0

MOTORISTS are being warned about possible delays in and around the city centre next week when a series of traffic surveys take place.

The work will happen between 7am and 7pm next Wednesday (October 22) in a bid to provide evidence which could be used in supporting future funding bids for improvements, such as Carrington Bridge.

The A4440 Southern Link Road will be included.

Police will be in attendance to support the surveys and Coun Simon Geraghty, county council cabinet member for economy, skills and infrastructure, has warned drivers could expect temporary hold-ups.

“It’s important people understand what will be taking place in and around Worcester city ahead of October 22 to avoid any possible confusion,” he said.

“The survey work is crucial in obtaining the evidence require to submit strong future bids for funding for transport improvements, as has successfully happened through the Strategic Economic Plan to turn plans for phase three improvements on Worcester’s Southern Link Road into a reality.

“It’s possible some delays may be experienced while this takes place but everything will be done to keep any disruption to a minimum.”
