A PUB manager from Worcester has become one of only 100 managers from across the UK to complete an award-winning management training programme.

Carl Haytree, who runs the Slug and Lettuce, attended a celebratory reception at the House of Commons on Wednesday, September 7 where he was recognised for completing the Stonegate Pub Company’s ‘Accelerator’ programme.

The scheme was launched in 2013 to enable deputy managers to be ready to rise to the challenge of one day managing their own pub.

At the glitzy event, the Worcester pub manager met with more than 50 MPs, Stonegate’s senior executives and was given a VIP tour of the House of Commons.

Chief Executive of the Stonegate Pub Company, Simon Longbottom, said: “People are at the heart of everything we do.

“We are firmly committed to the principle that our people should be able to progress from the bar to the boardroom.

“We are delighted to able to recognise the achievements of our Accelerator graduates; reaching our 100th milestone is a really proud moment for Stonegate.”
