A WORCESTER performing arts group has won a prestigious award for the third time running.

Worcester Operatic and Dramatic Society (WODS) were awarded the Best Musical Award 2015 by the National Operatic and Dramatic Association for the West Midlands District for its production of ‘Sunset Boulevard’.

Staged at The Swan Theatre last October, Andrew Lloyd Webber’s ‘Sunset Boulevard’ told the story of Hollywood and how people will do anything to get ahead, including such songs as ‘A perfect year’, ‘With one look’ and ‘As if we never said goodbye’ made famous by Barbra Streisand and Shirley Bassey.

After winning the award in 2014 with Mack & Mabel and in 2013 with Anything Goes, WODS were delighted to accept the award again at a ceremony held at Sutton Coldfield Town Hall on Sunday (April 17).

Bruce Wyatt, of WODS, said: “I was thrilled to receive the award on behalf of our members, the cast and everyone involved back stage from the current NODA National President Chris Ingram, who will be seeing our latest performance, the Children of Eden.

“It is the third year in succession we have won the award, which is amazing. It is a great achievement.”

Tickets are still available for Children of Eden which will be running from Tuesday, April 19 to Saturday, April 23 at The Swan Theatre. Tickets are £15 at the Worcester Live Box Office on 01905 611427.
