Owner’s gratitude for saving Bilbo

A WORCESTER woman has expressed her gratitude after donations flooded in to help her injured dog receive life-changing treatment.

Bilbo the beagle broke his back last November when he was hit by a car just before his first birthday, leaving owner Kate Donovan fearing the worst for her beloved pooch.

Following orthopaedic surgery to pin broken vertebrae, Bilbo was fitted with a pair of wheels on his hind legs to help him walk and run in March 2015.

But last month, Kate’s friend Donna Richardson launched a GoFundMe campaign to help provide further treatment for Bilbo, including acupuncture, massage and swimming, and in less than three weeks more than £800 has been donated.

Ms Donovan, 51, from Warndon Villages said: “We are so very grateful for all the kindness people have shown in donating so much money through Donna’s GoFundMe campaign towards alternative treatments for Bilbo.

“It is astonishing that so many people across the world have been touched by his story and have dug into their pockets to help him.”

Kelsea Little, media director at GoFundMe.com said: “Donna’s campaign for Bilbo is incredibly inspiring and it’s amazing to see the support of her friends, family and community who have rallied together to donate.

“We’re very happy to be able to provide a platform that allows animals like Bilbo to get life-changing treatment.”
