A MAN knocked unconscious outside a city centre nightclub has been awarded £200 compensation paid by his attacker.

Conor Ramsay was assaulted outside Tramps Nightclub in Angel Place after he left the venue with three of his friends at 2am on May 1.

Last Friday (August 22) Worcester Magistrates Court heard how Lewis Dutfield, of Liverpool Road, walked in to one of Mr Ramsay’s friends as they were leaving the site which caused an argument to start.

The 25-year-old then threw punches towards the group and made contact with the victim’s face, causing him to fall to the ground and knock him unconscious.

Dutfield ran off towards McDonalds but was followed by door staff who detained him before police arrived to arrest him, the court was also told.

The victim was left with a large lump on his eye and a cut which required gluing.

Defending solicitor Sunil Jagatia said: “He tells me on the day in question he had gone out with friends and drunk more than he normally does and that’s what he puts his behaviour down to.

“He fully accepts that’s not an excuse and apologises for his actions.

“You have got a young man here who has never had a reprimand, a caution or a conviction and he appears before you in good character.

“He is very disappointed he has now lost that good character and can’t really recall much that happened that day.”

As well as being ordered to pay compensation, Dutfield was also fined £200 and handed court costs of £85 and a £20 victim surcharge.
