A VILLAGE school near Worcester is set to take a big step to reducing its carbon footprint when it opens a new eco-friendly building.

Work is well underway to create the ‘eco-building’ at Grimley and Holt CE Primary School, which is due to open its doors to pre-school pupils in September.

The Learning Escape which specialise in designing eco classrooms, is carrying out the project which will see a purpose-built canopy put up to ensure all weather outdoor play for youngsters.

Rachel Welch, pre-school manager, said: “We are so excited about moving into our new building. We have planned open days on September 3 and 5 so everyone can have a look at the new building.”

She also urged people to attend its grand opening on September 27, between 12pm and 2pm, where there will be a host of family activities and a barbecue.
