AN ONGOING family feud resulted in a mother-of-two smashing a vehicle with a golf club while the driver was inside.
Natalie Brown, of Hazel Close, was walking down Hollymount, at 3pm on September 29 when there was an argument between herself and Julie Biddle, who was in a white Ford Focus.
The 27-year-old produced a golf club from a pram she was pushing and hit the car repeatedly with the weapon. When Ms Biddle tried to get out the vehicle Brown pushed her face back and scratched her, Worcester Magistrates Court heard last Friday (October 17).
Brown told police there had been problems between the two family’s for several months and that Ms Biddle had been threatening her and her children repeatedly.
The court was also told how Ms Biddle reportedly drove her car towards Brown on September 26 but despite reporting numerous incidents to the police, nothing had been done.
Defending solicitor Jason Patel said Brown felt like ‘she had no other option’.
“The Biddle family are well known to the criminal justice system and they have been involved in a number of incidents,” he said.
“There have been occasions where the injured party has come to school with a knife and threatened my client. It’s all been reported but nothing has happened.
“She put the golf club in the pram and the injured party comes in her vehicle making verbal threats so she asks her friend to walk on with the pram and the child.
“She said she was making movements as if she was going to get out of the car so pushed her to the face to basically say get in your car and leave it.”
Brown was given a 12-week prison sentence, suspended for 12 months, with 12 months supervision and a 10 week curfew after pleading guilty to assault by beating, criminal damage and possessing an offensive weapon in a public place.
She was also ordered to pay £200 compensation for the damaged car and an £80 victim surcharge.
