Masked burglars raid CrownGate jewellers

MASKED burglars raided a city centre jewellers during the early hours of this morning (Wednesday).

Police are appealing for witnesses after two men broke into the jewellers in CrownGate on Chapel Walk at approximately 4:45am, taking a quantity of jewellery and watches using a hessian reusable shopping bag.

The offenders travelled down the High Street on a dark, “scramble-style” motorcycle. The passenger got off and used force to gain entry to the premises.

Once inside he took the items and both men then left the scene on the motorcycle, riding back up the High Street and turning right towards the Cathedral.




The man driving the motorcycle was wearing all black and had his face covered with a white scarf.

The passenger was wearing a bright green boiler suit with a dark coloured jacket over the top, and a motorcycle helmet. He is described as being tall and of large build.


CCTV footage is being reviewed and officers would like to speak to anyone who may have information about the incident, call the non-emergency number 101 quoting incident reference number 53s of Wednesday 29 June.
